![]() It looks like it is in perpetual night mode. I just received brand new Latitude 7420 from my employer. And this setup manual shows the location. The Dell support page here describes the settings. Its also not tat the power plan is set to be dimmer when the computer is plugged in, I checked that and it didnt help. It was an option but you may have the Ambient Light Sensor installed. Then today I unplugged it, and all of a sudden it was bright again! It turns out that when it is unplugged, the brightness works just fine! I have no idea what is happening or how to fix it. ![]() I figured it was just an old, broken computer, and Id just have to deal until my regular one is fixed. Its about as dim as the lowest brightness setting would usually be, and yet all of the computer settings say it is at full brightness. Just so folks know what I have already done, I have already attempted to dim the screen by using the keyboard dim screen controls (Fn + F4) and by going into Control PanelHardware and SoundsPower Options. I changed the brightness setting, the power plan, adjusted absolutely everything I could, and nothing helped. A few days ago, the screen went extremely dim for no reason. The battery is shot, so it only runs for about 30 seconds without being plugged in. ![]() I'm currently using a (very old) dell latitude e6400 with Windows 7 while my normal laptop is being repaired. When the laptop is in the early stages of booting, the keyboard brightness controls work (Fn + arrow up/down), but at some point later in the boot phase they no longer work and once booted into Windows, the key combinations dont work either. I'm having a problem with my screen brightness setting. Fn up/down arrow keys (brightness control) not working on latitude 7280 Hi.
